Sunday School

The Centerville United Methodist congregation originally derived from a small class, which in 1832, began meeting in what is now the home of Mr George Clark. Served for many years by a circuit rider, the group met in several different homes until 1875 when the present church was built, with Rev M V Stone as pastor.

The total cost, including the lot, construction of the building and furnishings was $3100.  The Church was dedicated on Feb 6, 1876.

In 1853, a residence next to the church was purchased to provide social rooms and classrooms.   This building was removed in the summer of 1972 when a new, modern building was built to replace it.  This new building also is used by many in the community for meetings and social functions and more adequately serves the needs of the church.
